Well these are sort of donations to Dave, I think everyone understands that. In return we get something tangible, and this was my first crowdfunding campaign to contribute. I'm really happy to have waited this long for something worth it.  :-+

To be honest these would have costed around the same if not more if many people had ordered their own in small quantities, now Dave gets the profits for his own work, and people are happy to support him. Also this is like a practise for Dave into his new µcurrent product which he plans to crowdfund also on pozible. I'm really looking forward on that, provided the price stays affordable.

I'm not saying he isn't entitled to it but he acts like he's going trough this huge trouble for a few cents.

He might be leaving something out from his calculations, or just factors in hidden costs he might have forgotten, maybe he was planning to outsource the boring stuff of stuffing envelopes, which might have eaten up his whole profit. Or he just really hates stuffing envelopes, and no amount of money is going to make it worth to him.  :-DD

If you are going to make "$176.4 per hour" we want to see you suffer with those envelopes.  :-DD
(post atleast video or pictures of you gigantic mountain of envelopes and uRulers, just for fun, show those indiegogo dodgy campaigns how to work it)

Oh darn, I did not had money earlier today, and now when I have enough currency, "Your payment can not be completed because one of the recipients at this time can not receive payments" appeared. I don't know if it is paypalls problem, or something like that, or if there is limit. I really hope to get one, from the first time Dave showed these "exclusive goodies", so handy looking, no need for multiple size sheets and tables anymore, and is geeky most importantly.

I do hope you're joking.

30% tax on $4.20 means you get to keep $2.94.

I'm assuming you can do at least 1 envelope a minute that'll be $176.4 per hour.

I do hope you're joking. WTF do you think "per hour" even means if it's not a regular job? ??? That's like saying I'm being paid $14400 per hour if somebody hands me a $20 bill and it takes him five seconds to do it.....

Yeah except taking 20$ isn't actually work, stuffing 1274 envelopes (currently) is.

There are many ways to to think about it, we could say this is small part of the time spent building his fan base and making videos over his whole time with the blog. But Dave has addressed he does this for fun, or atleast did in the beginning. Someone interested should calculate how much that makes if he has worked full time with his blog for a while now?

I'm actually thinking of getting another 5 set of rulers, because I don't know if these are going to be available in the future. 5 rulers for 3$ each, against all the hundreds of episodes I have watched, some episode I've watched again because they make more sense the more I watch his videos. All the information I've learned the funny way from Dave talking and showing stuff, where I live education is free(high taxes) , but for Dave teaching stuff it's worth to pay.

Sometimes I watch episodes of Eevblog instead of some super popular primetime TV shows, because Dave is real and I can learn stuff, or just have fun watching, most of primetime popular TV shows are just the same thing over and over again and in the end there is just emptyness.

Last I checked, most humans in the world didn't have "a regular job" that paid, say, an hourly wage for "full time" work. Try telling a farmer that s/he shouldn't consider the return vs time of a project.

I know most farmers do it for fun, it is their way of living. If they didn't have their way of living, what would they do? European union pays royalties for the land they own, sometimes it's better to actually do nothing and get paid more.

But measuring it in dollars per hour makes no sense when you spend most hours not doing it. The numbers are completely incomparable to any other $/hr number. Criticizing someone for complaining about doing something by pointing out what it's worth in $/hr is dumb, the number doesn't mean anything.

You also have to factor the time spent as ancillary, like going out to buy the envelopes and the time it takes to go drop them off at the post office ( Au post is like ours and will bend you over without lube if they have to come collect) and to bundle them per country ( postal rules for bulk mail, even if they just whip the rubber bands off and toss them in a sorter right there) as well as the fuel costs and such. He also has to eat, drink and so what comes naturally as a result, as well as seal these envelopes. Stuffing much more than 200 envelopes an hour is not easy, you can do it for the first hour but after that the overheads start to accumulate. As well the labels will be time consuming, along with the stamps unless he is using a self adhesive one.

Reminds me, anybody want to see a tear down of a postal franking machine? The one at work went out of use as they were obsoleted supplies wise, so it is now on a shelf waiting for me to take the camera to it. Now we just buy boxes of stamps at the local post office 50m away or just get them to frank.

Better remember tomorrow to get some packs of AA cells then, and get some hand cleaner ready for the afternoon then.  Messy red ink rollers there. Will do so after work in the spare time between ending work and closing up.

Yup, Paypal suspended my premium business account. Pozible suggested that may happen.
Had to reset all my passwords and security stuff and all that.
I can access my account, but not sure if it's actually working again, anyone?
It's too early for their business phone support.

Guess what why professional hourly contract rate used to be...
I'd rather be making content than stuffing envelopes.
There is more important things in life than money.
I did this on impulse thinking I'd keep a few hundred people happy with rulers who have asked for them, now it's in the thousands and doesn't look like being a small bit of satisfying fun any more.
But hey, that's my problem, not yours.

Just tried again, still receiving this error message. Same result when choosing instant bank transfer and credit card payment methods.

Yes, it's a good chance to see how the whole pozible thing works and how streamlined the process can be made. Simply getting names and addresses onto stickers is a huge deal.
Anything else like the uCurrent adds another huge step of customs declarations.

Wonder if you could get PCBcart to pack the envelopes at Chinese labour prices ;D

I reckon with a decent process you should be able to pack & label in about 10-15 seconds. You should be able to the whole lot in a day easily, including going to the Post Office.

Well, i'm sure there is a way to automatize the process of print from csv.

Excell can do it, and varius laser printer software also.

A serius label printer will save you a huge amount to throuble and it's only like 80$

My account is now able to accept money, but cannot send or withdraw, so the 5% Pozible withdrawal is not working, and that's why it's still failing I suspect.
It will not work until I re-verify my bank account.
