usbeduino tha arduino project
« on: July 05, 2014, 09:41:30 pm »
Hi all,

First of all i would like to tell you how pleasant i'm by writing here.

I am electronic Engineer from Greece for about 7 years and the summer of 2014 i'm ready to launch my first personal company.I'm machine vision specialist and i have build 3 sites. www.usbeduino.com www.oramasolutions.com www.usbekits.com.

I start dealing with arduino the last years and i liked it very much.
When i decided to choose the much smaller attiny 85 chip the idea of making some shields was necessary.

So i started the campaign on indiegogo.please follow the link below.
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/usbeduino-the-arduino-project/x/6872674

Please if you like the project share it and even more if you are interested choose a perk to help me go on.
Unfortunately i don't have global visibility without to many friends out there so to be able to make a normal start.

The campaign a few days ago.

Thanks a lot

Best regards
Fanis

Flexible Funding

Seriously, did you do NO research about crowd-funded projects?

flexible funding means that you will get the money even if you don't reach your goal. Usually if the goal is not reached no one gets a thing because there was not enough to go to production.

Yours is a small amount goal but still people backing you have no warranty of their money going towards the product they are promised because often the campaign founders will retract from the orders because there is not enough funding to do a production run.

So yeah, it's a mistake to do flexible funding even at small amounts because backers will feel their money will go nowhere if not enough is raised and they can't get their money back nor the product.

99% of flexible funding projects are scams.

You apparently did NO research about crowd-funding.

i would suggest to calculate the minimum amount of units to make the manufacturing economically viable (at least break-even) and set that amount as your goal for a "all-or-nothing" crowd-funding campaign.
if the product is good for more people , then your campaign will be funded several times higher than your goal and you can start a higher volume production (cheaper a bit) and even make some profit on the units.

Ok i anderstand...

At first kickstarter was my choise but they don't accept entries from Greece(really why?)
SO i decided the indiegogo and the reality is that i didn't knew that they are scams the flexible funding campaigns...

I will try after the summer again with your suggestions thanks...
I hope that Kickstarter will accept entries from here too....

But in the meanwhile i would like to tell that every funder will get the kit they want...
I hope to be some more...

the problem is not the Indiegogo - they're just fine.

the problem is the fact that lot's of scammers are opening flexible funding campaigns to get money without delivering anything, and people simply don't trust in flexible funding campaigns anymoore. therefore even a good project with flexible funding will most likely fail.

that's why i proposed to go for a minimalistic "all-or-nothing" campaign.

Thansk friend...
You are great!

I mentioned Kickstarter because there all or nothing model is oneway ticket...
If i was there i would propably didn't face such problems...
I understood excactly what happens now...

Nevermind...what happens is past...

For now the campaign is still alive...
I think hat the costs isn't so high and the idea is wonderful.
Maybe there are some changes yet...
