Aligning net labels?

Silly question- I am creating a schematic that has a header in it. From each pin I run a short wire and then give it net name. For some odd reason I can not make them visually align. I've played with the grid and there is still something preventing all net labels from aligning on the same vertical line. It almost looks like the position of the label depends on where you click to enable displaying it?!
