The video seems to be purposely designed click-bait, to get lots of views, without spending any real time or effort, making a genuine video.  To then get paid money for the views it generates.

I partly blame Youtube, for removing the general public visible dislike count, and being very reluctant to remove pure click-bait videos.

I haven't tried it, but seriously doubt it would dry out a phone, any faster than normal.

Wet phone? Most people just shake their phones at 2Hz. And then quickly 'upgrade' before the salt from the ocean eats the motherboard. ( Beware 'preloved' phones )

I once came across a guy who tried to dry his phone at 2.4Ghz. That did not end well for both his girlfriend's kitchen and relationship.

There's a very narrow window between the steam stopping and the smoke starting.... In fact, significant overlap is a very real possibility.  :D

This kind of quick-recipe nonsense short videos were once the hallmark of Tiktok, although on the latter the video would have been shorter than 1 minute.

Then YT wants to get their share and opens the platform to the same kind of shit, and the same kind of shit we get.

Sure there has always been crap dodgy videos on YT, but they used to be longer with a bit more video editing work. Progress.

Wasn't there an urban myth going around a few years ago, claiming you could quick-charge your phone battery the same way?

There's just enough truth in the concept to make a good scam.
See Icom's trademarked AquaQuake function to clear water from the speakers and microphones of their water resistant marine radios.

An acquaintance dropped his phone in the loo.

The phone was retrieved, immediately disassembled, battery removed. Washed in clean water. Dried out with compressed air. Left for a day in the warm air coming from a server power supply.

On reassembling the phone, it worked OK but the sound was a bit shitty. [our words - the phone continued to work as long as I knew the guy]
