AI Elon Musk crypto scam
« on: January 17, 2025, 12:56:52 am »
I searched youtube for a link to the spacex launch and came across this channel SpaceX[Live] https://www.youtube.com/@spacex-official-corp

I started watching it and it appeared to be the official spacex channel with the launch.  3-minutes after the launch it said standby for an important message from Elon Musk.  Then the AI generated Musk came on pushing a crypto scam.

Can't be too sure these days. Might be a scam. Might actually be Elon Musk.

BTC wallet on their stream has received $6k in the past hour or so... https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/address/bc1qusp87n2mng39sl6ckx5xx74ryudcsk9g0g74ms

Its been a thing for a while now. Videos that mentions his name seem to have a ton of crypto scam comments in them as well.
The real channel is just "https://www.youtube.com/spacex"

Yes crypto scams with fake Musk channels have been going on for a long time. Actually, they had mostly disappeared but they seem to be coming back.

Nobody's ever going to double your crypto just because they're nice.

Yep, any time you see a
- QR code, and/or,
- Musk, and/or,
- People talking about crypto, and/or,
- 2 for 1 crypto schemes

It's a scam.

Additional signs the above is a scam
- It's a livestream (they usually are live)
- It has comments/chat disabled
- The Youtube channel only hosts that 1 live video you are watching, or it has other videos that seem to be random and not at all related to crypto/musk/space. (They are usually hijacked YouTube channels that have been renamed to something space or crpto related).

Just right click and report as bitcoin/crypto scam.

SpaceX does not stream on YouTube for like 2 years already. Either watch it on X or watch some other 3rd party stream. Crypto scammers with hacked accounts are in love with SpaceX and Elon.

this is not the first time scams are using fake elon musk channels
what is worse is how sloooowwww youtube takes to do a take down
but they are soooo quick to block videos due to some kind of "commercial" rights complains

Yes, same for some comments that can be deleted pretty fast, while the rampant bot fake accounts on YT that comment always the same stuff with those butt avatars are apparently welcome. (My wild guess is that they are actually YT bots to experiment with non-human accounts, that they are all going to implement, FB announced it already.) There are also these accounts who impersonate the channel owners, asking to discuss on Telegram - these comments are like ULTRA easy to spot automatically, but somehow YT doesn't do squat about it.

FB has been running fake bot accounts for a long time, and reportedly they are nuking them now because users found out and started to play with them and laugh at the stupidity.

In particular, there was “Liv,” the Meta AI account that has a bio describing itself as a “Proud Black queer momma of 2 & truth-teller,” and told Washington Post columnist Karen Attiah that Liv had no Black creators — the bot said it was built by “10 white men, 1 white woman, and 1 Asian male,” according to a screenshot posted on Bluesky.

Those videos promoting crypto scams are common place for quite a while. Another scam method using celebs is via emails allegedly from Buffet or Musk gifting you a large sum of money (variant of the classic Nigerian scam). Obtrusive celebs. ;D

Nuking them... uh huh. Sure. They just have an odd way of "nuking".

Well, my article is one day newer, so maybe yours is part of the "backlash" that mine talks about.
But then again it's the Fake News Network, so who knows :P

I'm afraid I'm too lazy to register a Farceberg account to find out first hand. Anyone willing to take one for the team?

Wow, so it's possible, (maybe even happened), that one FB user's BOT could be paying real cash money, to some other random FB user's BOT, and totally automatic, while the, uhh; Owners are in the dark!

As we Germans say: "Kann man sich nicht ausdenken."

That's the translation, but it lacks the deeper meaning.

Could be.
Sometimes translation is like making a Xerox of a Xerox of a Xerox of a ... phrase.

This is a really common scam that has been running for quite a while, can be hard to spot straight away. It usually involves Youtube accounts that have been compromised, the legitimate owners either don't know, or have been locked out by the threat actor, and they "rebrand" the channel and livestream old launches.
