The quality of the cable would be unpredictable no matter the price.

But with Ali, those introductory prices are always low. If you are on a new account, then you would be able to get that price. In you are on an existing account, then the price will go up once you login.

Sorry, but there is no way anyone can tell you whether what you will get actually does what is advertised on AliExpress. Not sure what are you expecting here. Especially with only a cropped part of the posting showing some generic word salad and a rendered picture (but even with full post and a photo - there is no guarantee that what would be shown in the photo is what you would actually receive).

Either bite the bullet and buy it - maybe you will get lucky and it is a great deal. In the worst case you are out of $2 and will have to go buy another cable. As they say - buy cheap buy twice.

Or don't - and go buy a known good cable elsewhere.

With AliExpress it holds more than elsewhere - you do get what you pay for. If something looks too good to be true, it usually is.

Always look at the reviews and other feedback on the seller.

I haven't had to use the specific type of adapter you're referring to, but have had no problems with purchasing HDMI to VGA converters from there --- and they were indeed much cheaper than buying what would likely be the same product at a local shop.

For cables I think Monoprice is about as cheap as you can go and get what you expect consistently.

Have a look at this person experience with Aliexpress:

Clearly demonstrated the tinySA was a clone and he got the boot from both the seller and Aliexpress.
Not as bad as the three prong cord with a missing ground wire between both ends that could kill you but very much  "buyer beware" with these sources.
Why not buy locally for a few bucks extra but know you can take it back and talk to a real person that should be motivated in keeping its reputation and store going.....

As a rule of thumb, almost all tech specs on Chinese marketplaces are exaggerated. And most of the sellers are trying to scam you some how.
