Crypto currency protection tent - seriously!?
« on: July 08, 2021, 09:14:19 am »
Hey,

Look what I have found: https://hollandshielding.com/Crypto-currency-protection-tent

This is on the website of an EMC/RF company that looks okay but I am surprised about this crypto-tent. What do you think? :-DD

Some complete and utter bollocks, that. Of all the methods used to compromise a laptop/pc, this is going to be pretty low down on the list.

Hopefully the pyramid version sharpens the user's IQ like it sharpens their razor blades, because any sucker that falls for that needs all the help they can get . . .

This is un-original. The Get Smart TV series introduced the "cone of silence" and "umbrella of silence" for audio frequency security. This tent is a mere logical derivative.

This protects not only your own pc from outside signals but also your own imput! The tent reduces the chance of being hacked c.q. your codes/passwords stolen with a factor 100-1000.

Typo "imput"

Joke: Actually it will do as advertised as they won't have any signal in there to do anything not even crypto currency.

This one is surely a April fools joke that someone forgot to remove afterwards... right?

Especially since Holland Shielding is a pretty reputable manufacturer of RF shields and boxes.

Most users loose their crypto, because they connect their wallet to some dubious website, and some JS code will ask for access. Then a transaction pops up, paraphrasing "allow scammer to take infinite ETH from your wallet" and they approve the transaction. The website usually tells them that they will get free tokens. No amount of tents are going to protect against that.
And then they go online and tell everyone they got hacked.

Maybe they just have an overzealous marketing department, or one which is a bit too social-media or search-engine optimisation savvy. :-DD

They have recently added a new product category of "Putin shielding" which appears to be their standard selection of shielded 19" racks, just under a different name.

So, they are reputable huh?
After the crypto tent, now the Putin shields:

"Due to thread of nuclear weapons your data need extra safety. These weapons can create a huge magnetic field which can destroy your data."

Yeah. Certainly some company that I would get onboard with. ;D

Actually, the tent does have a useful purpose: when you lose all your money by "investing" in crypto, it will provide you a place to live!

New technology :bullshit: that prevents your bitcoins from being stolen.
Another buzzword I am beginning to hate as I am seeing this word used more and more to describe something as newly invented when it isn't and this tent is nothing new.

Image lookup leads to faraday/shielded tents shops.

https://shieldedtents.com/emi-rfi-shielded-medium-pyramid-faraday-tent

Touting a faraday/sheilded tent as a "Crypto currency protection tent".

Sounds to me like beyond a joke.

How does it work: Prevent that people can read or manipulate your computer. This protects not only your own pc from outside signals but also your own **imput! The tent reduces the chance of being hacked c.q. your codes/passwords stolen with a factor 100-1000 :bullshit:. The Crypto currency protection tents are made of highly conductive, lightweight, and ultra-strong textile. The same tent is supplied to secret services and embassies to prevent others from reading messages sent by computer.

We suggest you use the pyramid version, this one is easy to mount with a single rope to the ceiling in a few minutes and can be moved when needed.

* Prevent that people....
Makes some sense but the combination words don't sound right to me... "Prevents people from reading or manipulating..."

*spelling mistake imput

Still does not say how it works.
