I think I found a new one
« on: March 14, 2021, 06:27:31 pm »
I just searched the forum for this website and didn't come up with any hits

energy multiplication process, spinny things, words like "Optimum rotations",  lousy CGI graphics of magnetic fields and woefully scant explanations on how it actually works... I found it through facebook ads, and I'd sure like to report the ad but I can't find the option to do that anymore.

One of his stipulations when he was looking through is late uncle's plans was that it had to be cheap and easy to build

Lo and behold, "With 3 wooden wheels, a hard cylinder, some belts and 2 cogwheels"

yeah, I'd really doubt it too

Facebook is all hoity toity about making sure you don't offend anyone but ads for products that are bogus, ads from companies that don't ship products, etc.. that's all good because they paid!

Clever how they mask over the player so it doesn't show the youtube player menu to find out the video URL on Youtube.

The first ten seconds, the tune was taken out of the BBC News and sounds like it was altered a little at the end.

Just reported them to the BBC just now enquiring whether their use of the music falls under fair use policy.

Look what I found:

https://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/threads/good-morning-and-an-early-merry-christmas.23440/

Was that picture taken copied and placed in the background?
Looks like there are more things going on with that.

Funny you should just find that on THAT site, I just joined Migwelding.co.uk this week because of a thread talking about plasma cutters!

Maybe I should post this video in that thread and ask the guy if this is his project? or if his basement was greenscreened as a backdrop?  That was posted in 2010

It's literally the exact picture file used as a background matte. Note how all the lit areas are the same, mostly from windows.
The lighting on the man in the foreground is also completely different from the "room".

The problem is that this crap is rampant.  Barrages of ads touting solar power, refinancing, self medication, and many more are all over the place.  Greed beats common sense and compassion every time.

Somehow that guy in the video looks familiar - or just generic?

The science behind the MagniWork Generator is incredible and makes more sense than any of the other alternative energy methods. It uses magnets to power your whole house. Once it gets set up the magnetic force will create energy to power your whole house...

...Once the generator is built you just have to place it somewhere and forget about it! The generator powers itself and needs no third party (such as sunlight). The best part is the generator will last your whole life. The average life span of one of these is actually 400 years!...

@ Rx7man I was suspicious of the character in the video, convinced he was the scammer so I copied some frames and a cutout hoping to get a match on Google image reverse lookup to find how who he maybe, see attached picture but all I found was the background that had been copied.

Reverse image search does not work like that: it can find where a photograph appears on the web, but it is not a facial recognition algorithm.

@helius I know it may lack facial recognition stuff but sometimes it seems to find a match like a scammer who started an Indiegogo campagin, Ecocable and copied a few individuals on there that he cut out and I think one of them with some of their creditations.

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/dodgy-technology/ecocable/msg3187872/#msg3187872

That's why I was hoping to find some face match but not expecting it.

Watching the video i got the very same vibes as from the "EZ battery reconditioning" scam.
This is probably just a paid actor reciting some script, but the way it's structured does feel very similar to the ez battery scam video.

Also checked in on the EZ battery reconditioning scam and it seems to be a live and kicking.
The video descriptions also have a sneaky little surprise hidden in the links

Both share this nameserver:
NS1.HOONGENERATOR.COM
Looks dodgy and leads to forwardnow.com

Blocked by Ublock listed under Easylist.

It seems someone is making money for every click to that website that does the name server.

This is probably just a paid actor reciting some script, but the way it's structured does feel very similar to the ez battery scam video.

All those scams look very similar. The structure of the narrative is always the same.

Actually, it's really the 101 of "effective communication". The narrative starts with some supposed personal experience, which eventually leads to "the solution". If you know about TEDx talks, you'll notice they are also all built following the same recipe. Drawing from a supposed personal experience allows the listener to have some kind of emotional bond with the story and thus it resonates a lot better.

Judging by their not-so-visible content, this is going on for almost a decade now:

Note that all they are selling from what I've seen is some eBook, which is absolutely legal. And at a price that's still in the "normal" range for a book. So whereas the book itself contains bullshit, it's probably difficult to stop this business as you can't just prevent people from selling books in a free country. The content itself doesn't matter much - actually, most books sold contain fictitious stories. You don't ban them.

That's why it's probably almost impossible to stop this kind of scams.

Steady on chaps (and chapesses). About half-way down the page we're promised that "The order is secure and confidential." So at least no-one will find out what a twonk you were to fall for it.

Seems the guy does have some redeeming features!

Mind you, in the the black box that follows this promise (and other similar boxes) it does look suspiciously as though "Ryan Taylor" and "Easy Power Plan" have been crudely superimposed over whatever the text originally said. The font and size don't match - and nothing lines up. Can't believe someone would be so lazy as not to retype the whole sentence and make it look slightly less awful.

Rubber bands bridge the gap between WD40 and duct tape.

I just noticed that with the shadows and different fonts...  and after a search on the words it looks like it comes from the EZ Battery Reconditioner scam.

Looking at the difference maybe copied and edited from another picture.

The mistake is to think that there is any other kind. Most of what you hear about through media channels is the product of P.R. agents in service of somebody. When they're doing their job you are only dimly aware that they exist.
