Endless Drinking Water!
« on: October 14, 2024, 07:26:32 pm »
No electricity needed!

https://source.co/pages/residential

From a company in Scottsdale AZ,
"SOURCE produces water in a wide range of climates. The array at our headquarters in Arizona makes water year-long despite low relative humidity in a dry area."

I didn't see this in a search.  Apologies if this is a repeat.

I spent a few weeks in Scottsdale AZ. If you aren't somewhere air conditioned, endless drinking water is certainly something you need.  :)

So it is another solar dehumidifier. They don't pull much water out of the air in dry areas.

I knew I was going to find that word in by the title of this thread.
Maybe Thunderfoot would release a video on it soon.

Powered by Hydropanel® Technology
Our Hydropanel technology pulls water vapor from the air and turns it into liquid water using nothing other than solar power. The system then mineralizes the water for health and taste, and keeps it pure for you to enjoy directly from your tap.
It's not magic, it's American ingenuity.

Changing the State of Water
SOURCE® Hydropanel® turns vapor in the atmosphere into clean, fresh drinking water—for everyone, everywhere.Serious problems require serious innovation. We created SOURCE Hydropanel to reimagine humanity's relationship with water  :bullshit: through innovation that prioritizes people.

How it Works
SOURCE Hydropanel technology  :bullshit: incorporates multiple patented inventions alongside proprietary trade secrets  :bullshit: , making it a one-of-a-kind renewable water solution that uses the power of the sun to produce pure water that is then mineralized for ideal pH and TDS, resulting in safe, premium quality drinking water.

Hydropanel is like a solar photovoltaic panel, but instead of creating electricity, it instead makes clean, safe drinking water without electric hookups or infrastructure, nearly anywhere in the world.
Not fine! I don't see how it works.
Buzzword BULLSHIT: proprietary, technology, trade secrets, premium, innovation, reimagine, humanity.
Maybe the "proprietary" things have filters built in there.

It'd be interesting to see how these perform.

Most of the time Scottsdale has extremely low humidity. 20% is considered very humid there. So, with endless drinking water you can be comfortable without air conditioning. You will be sweating at a very high rate, but it evaporates and keeps you adequately cool. In fact, it can be very pleasant there when its well over 50C. You need to drink every 10 minutes or so, though, so you do need pretty much endless drinking water.

On the other hand, if you are expecting to extract any significant moisture from the super dry air of Scottsdale, good luck.

Isn't this the exact same BS that Thunderf00t debunked years ago? There seems to be an endless recycling stream for scam green startups.

Regardless if it's practical, simply managing to use electrodialysis at this scale is impressive to me.

Is the water that comes out of it safe to drink? A lot of dehumidifier water collectors recommend you purify the water and clean them weekly to prevent algae.

Dehumidifier output water has a lot more problems than just algae. Bacteria, viruses, atmospheric dust and more all collect in a humidifier's output. They are really disgusting if not thoroughly cleaned regularly. They don't have much in the way of dissolved salts to precipitate, though, so they do produce suitable soft water for things like clothes irons. I wouldn't drink the stuff without boiling it. Depending on the area, I might not want to drink it at all.

This probably deserves its own thread, it's a different technology to the scammers with dehumidifiers

I noticed a recent article for an installation of this system in an Australian school - Goodooga Central School near Lightning Ridge.
