I'm planning on becoming a billionaire and emigrating to Mars.

Let's see which happens first.

Hang on, isn't there already one near Arlanda airport? That uses slotcar-style pickups in the road? https://eroadarlanda.com/

It was installed in 2018 and has been almost silent since.

Isn't there another one further south near Malmo which uses overhead wires?

Sweden truly is the world leader in vehicle-charging roads.

In terms of logistics, the only inconvenience is that a portion of the asphalt needs to be removed and replaced. Other than that, the system can connect to existing power grids without the need for additional infrastructure or transformation stations.
Well until you have tens of thousands of cars on the road draining 70kW each of course  :-DD

As far as I can tell, these projects work perfectly for their intended purpose.

Which is to extract money from governments and municipalities wishing to spend other peoples money so their lead faces can claim they're making the world a better place.
Everybody wins, except the taxpayer and the environment; and nobody cares about the taxpayer or the environment, really.

Which is exactly why I decree that charging roads should be solar roads too, charge your car with crappy road sunlight. :-DD

I just imagined hybrid of solar road and charging road. You park your car on solar road "patch" and you get charged by it.  :-DD

With green energy nanoparticles.

(Whenever someone talks about "green energy", I keep thinking of that movie.)

We already know that roads are very expensive...And there's always people who come up with ways to make them EVEN MORE expensive.
