Newton's Law of Universal Cellphone Charging
« on: October 20, 2021, 11:13:15 pm »
A few days ago I was served an ad on youtube whose buzzword salad was entertaining enough to not skip it. I was rewarded with this gobbledy-gook:

It appears Newton was more technologically advanced than we give him credit for. For context, the ad claimed that you could buy an AI cellphone charger than overrode you phone's operating system so you could load social media videos faster, among other things.

EDIT: Anyone know how to get inline images?
EDIT2: Made the image inline by putting the URL that appears at the bottom of the post in between the img tags. Is that how everyone does it?

There is a famous photograph of Enrico Fermi, originally a publicity photo for the University of Chicago, which has a totally wrong formula for the fine-structure constant on the blackboard.
See:  https://www.atomicheritage.org/sites/default/files/Enrico%20Fermi%20chalkboard_0.jpg
The obvious error is usually assumed to be a joke on Prof. Fermi's part.
This photo was later used for the 34-cent commemorative stamp by the USPS, confusing physics students for decades.

Maybe it's supposed to filter out potential buyers, like how scam emails will intentionally use poor english? Or more cynically, they knew they didn't need solid work to sell units.

I aspire to make jokes with this sort of longevity. Nice bit of history trivia.

I was served the ad again, and this time I was able to nab it by following this stackoverflow entry: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20874062/how-to-download-video-ads-from-youtube

Here it is (link because I haven't figured out embedding yet):

I just noticed upon re-watching that in the part where they show how quick the download speed is, you can tell by the video playing above the progress tracker that they sped up the recording.:-DD

EDIT: Apparently SMF does the embedding itself...

I like how at 2:13 a whole bunch of people is presented. For just ordering some random USB charger at Aliexpress and having your logo printed onto it.
