Hello, again!
Today's Safety topic is: Old chair breakdown featuring older guy.
(Please see photo of broken chair seat.)

Older chair usually serves as a sunblock / Xtra table.  I had no idea that it could be such an effective immobilizing hazard !
I only sat down, to tie my boots when, rrrrip...something tore, and my ass drifted down a couple inches.  "Funny old chair, I thought;; Ha ha!".
But then, well, more extensive ripping sound.
"Never thought THIS would happen, lol."  I thought, as ASS sunk, slowly, down down to rest on the cement patio.

"OK, now get back, ughff, get back ummffugget...,. Get uh...."oh shit!".  Knees pressed up against chest, ass and feet planted solid on the ground...And nowhere to go!  (Wasn't turning out so comical).

Yeah, you can laugh, no injuries.  But it took a bit of squirming (sideways), to do controlled fall sideways.
That old chair seat broke out, but the stronger  edging material did not break, and the front edge was wedged, firmly, behind my knees, while legs tightly closed, folded in half, and knees against chest.
Was even hard to breathe, there.
Go ahead and laugh!  No actual injuries !

enjoy.  - - - Rick

Those things are ridiculously flimsy.  By the look of it, in that photograph.

As you say, when a chair gives way, or you fall off of it.  It can be harder to get up afterwards, than might be reasonably expected.

Yes, MK14, one of my pet ambitions is to do Safety Engineering, for an increasingly aging population.
First task would be inventing various STOVE BURNER cut-off and fire suppression technology...much needed wherever folks of lesser memory capacity are living.

Unfortunately, it is way, way easier to dream up such ideas.  Rather then spend the other 99.9999% of the time (perspiration), to actually get it designed/invented/created and a suitable business started up, with investments, to bring it into this world for real.

On a bright note, at least you have solved the first 0.0001% of the problem.  The next 0.0002%, is to sort out a reliable and sturdy chair, for you to dream up other 0.0001% revelations.

POLYMATH / with chronic fatigue syndrome.

That's compounded trouble...flood of ideas, many good, plus the fatigue, in the face of a need for a bunch of activity.  Best for someone like this, to develop time management,...in a very strict sense.

Being a POLYMATH can be a lifestyle burden.  You wanna be a DaVinci...(sometimes end up more like a Van Gogh.)
GO Vincent !
