Sony Companion "device locked" bullshit

I was trying to root a 3113 XA2 phone, had an older version of the tools and companion which ran without an issue (but no drivers as I'd thought it would come with it) but thought I'd continue on another Windows 10 machine installed the latest Sony companion to experience this bullshit message. Two things I find offensive, the typical dimming nonsense in the background, yes it has creeped in there too.

"Your device is locked."
Now if they say "the program/app is locked" then okay but when they say "device" I think they mean phone and if that is the case... then yeah right.

My phone is NOT locked.

I guess they are trying to force or scare me into accepting updates through their new Sony Companion program.

Deny internet access. You should get a firewall, that way you'll see how many apps try to phone home...
