I talked about the Nutube stuff a while ago in another thread. Interesting devices for experimenting. Kinda expensive though.

As to this evo64 and everything that goes with it, yes it's "ridiculously" expensive, but why not. There is a market for that apparently and that's probably fun if you're into that!

I have seen David (the 8-bit guy) make these basic and sorry mistakes a few times (the IBM prototype goof up was one of the worst that I recall). The upside is that, If it helps improve the documentation and alert potential buyers, then it served its purpose.

Those Nutubes are ridiculously microphonic and definitely not 'audiophile' grade.

They were designed for use in Korg synthesizers, and work well for that, but a tube for high quality audio reproduction they are not...

Maybe that is why they also have the "Triode 64". It looks as if you have to cut a hole in the bread-bin to allow it to fit.

I want to see a quad of 300B tubes in push-pull configuration sticking out the top of a Commodore 64 like some sort of Frankenstein experiment.

Reminds me of the company who put 12AX7A tubes on pc motherboards for the onboard sound back in 2002...
