In many cases (especially for small business) the cameras are picked to be the cheapest possible. You need any cameras to get insurance, but there is no need for costly good quality ones. The police does not do anything in most cases for the business when it gets robbed, so even 8K cameras would do absolutely nothing to catch the criminals. The goal of the footage is to file the insurance claim, and identity of the robbers is irrelevant.

You only see shitty footage where the police investigates a death or something serious like this that happened outside. And the footage they get is from those cameras installed by the business to get the insurance.

If the cameras helped the people that have to install and maintain them, you'd see a huge improvement in quality.

Oh crap, yea totally. I always have to chuckle when I see those silly enhancements in films that are totally impossible. That's the highest I have ever seen though on the make belief scale.

Well now you come to mention it, I mean look at dihydrogen monoxide, how the hell is that awful stuff still allowed in circulation:

Dihydrogen monoxide:

is also known as hydroxyl acid, and is the major component of acid rain.
contributes to the "greenhouse effect".
may cause severe burns.
contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape.
accelerates corrosion and rusting of many metals.
may cause electrical failures and decreased effectiveness of automobile brakes.
has been found in excised tumors of terminal cancer patients.
Despite the danger, dihydrogen monoxide is often used:

as an industrial solvent and coolant.
in nuclear power plants.
in the production of styrofoam.
as a fire retardant.
in many forms of cruel animal research.
in the distribution of pesticides. Even after washing, produce remains contaminated by this chemical.
as an additive in certain "junk-foods" and other food products.

There is so much information hidden in an 8bit VGA picture, you just have to have the right software to uncover it! But you have to be the F-B-I to get your hands on this piece of software, unfortunately.

(Honestly, every 100 USD smartphone gives you nice and sharp pictures, with dozens of megapixels. But in every security relevant installation, they did chose to use 1990s Vtech kiddy cameras plus extra "unsharp" optics with built-in "smear effect", set to maximum compression. I wonder if that is done intentionally.)

A couple of months ago, this was in the conspiracy theory newspaper which I get.

Eek, you're not paying for that are you?

What does the front page look like?
Who's the publisher?
Do people pay for ad space in that nonsense paper?

No, I get it for free from some people in the city centre who give it out. I consider it to be the same as any other self published paper/website/book; it has some good stuff and some crap.

It does indeed have adverts, including a firm who sell EMF protection clothing  ;D.

I have often wondered that myself.

It may not be precisely true, but it's true. 5G causes irreversible brain damage by exposing its users to the Internet. Just look at all the drones walking around glued to their phones and thinking that anything they see in there is for real :P

LOL, I'm outta the loop, what's the latest SCOTUS drama?

they overturned the 50 year old ruling on Roe v. Wade so the individual states can (and have) now ban abortion, since everyone with money can just go to a blue state it will only affect one kind of people, the poor ...

How can you be poor in a country that dishes out so much welfare that people literally risk their lives to enter it by any means and receive welfare that they can live on.
Similarly, people simply give their babies to the state if they can't abort.
This comment reminds me of the cries for help from some twitter users that they couldn't afford diabetes medication in America.
When you actually look at the details it turns out that America in the majority of states actually provides diabetes medication for free to the unemployed.
They force you to pay for it at the full price once you reach a certain income level.
It is cheaper in other countries NOT because they can produce it at a lower price, but because it is subsidized by the state.
In Germany everybody ( no matter your income ) gets standard diabetes meds for free in most cases or at a heavily subsidized price.
It seems that the more a country caters to peoples every whim and needs, the more they complain about their life as if they are hunter gatherers living in a cave ten thousand years ago.
