What is this weird "High Power Transmitter" on eBay
« on: November 04, 2022, 04:58:08 pm »
What is this?  It has a long list of features but noplace does it mention the purpose, use, frequency, or other fundamental information about a transmitter.  I can only imagine that there are people who have a specificy, probably dodgy, use for this and know what to look for.

Looks like some scam. A single transistor with some coil connected at one end and LED, makes no sense. Don't see any power terminals either.

This appears to be power harvesting device deployed in the E.M radiation field of a high power transmitter. It is not a transmitter, more like a electro magnetic field parasite that produces a voltage from the near field of a transmitting antenna. The description is so poor that I cannot determine what sort of transmitter is is designed to work with.

Looks like a pretty rubbish design and it would not surprise me if it does not actually work.

Oh yes, much more efficient than the green or brown copper :-DD

Could it be a high power induction transmitter, similar to a contactless phone charger, only more powerful?

There is no induction coil, it's connected at one end only.

Hmm...true.

It was seeing Tesla in the description that made me think it could be something like that. He experimented with wireless power transmissions.

It is sold everywhere apparently. You can find it on Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/i/32999201243.html
apparently it's some kind of Tesla coil generator. The pictures suggest that there is a primary and secondary, although we don't see much. The end of what we could guess would be the secondary is open-ended. Who knows what the purpose of this is. If it does oscillate at all, then it probably makes a very nasty RF "jammer".

Seems like an emp generator, it is sold in a packaged solution to trick coin slot machines:

“ single frequency pulse EMP High power Transmitter coil voltage generator for Slot machine Game/Crane machine Fingerprint lock

Features:
Note: Intermittent work (one click). Cannot click continuously”

Bingo. It had to be for something nefarious like that didn't it?

The thing might work OK, but it's the ethics that's dodgy.

Yep, that's a pocket EMP blaster for thiefs and vandals to screw with electronics. They just put it under "transmitter" to prevent Ebay from immediately busting them. You hook up a battery and zap arcade machines, slot machines, atms, exc.

I can just imagine someone walking around a casino near the slot machines with this gadget. Probably be 30 seconds or so before a couple of big guys come along and "help" them out the door.
