dollar sign in auto generated name
« on: January 16, 2015, 12:49:45 am »
how do i set up auto name generation for library parts that i've created.

for example when i place a premade resistor or capacitor it gives it a nice auto generated name like R7 or C22.

when i place my own parts they get a name like U$2.

how do i get rid of the dollar sign?

in library edit window

when you make symbols ... you need to assign a ">NAME" (a text field)

then in device view, you need to specify what prefix (lower right, the cluster of few buttons)

prefix = Rxxx, Cxxx, etc

try load a "good" component and look at the symbol, and the prefix fields

Yes, thanks. This was missing from the Sparkfun tutorial that I had been following.
