Does anyone know where I can get a library package for this device for use in the USA? It is the device Dave uses for his precision voltage-controlled, current-controlled lab power supply. I have never used this device before. Yes, I'm aware the datasheet lists five different packages for this device. No, I don't know which one(s) is/are available in the USA. I do prefer through-hole if at all possible.
If no, maybe somebody can suggest a different device with an identical package?

Why not make a package yourself? It's pretty easy in eagle.

2011 is the year I made my first custom part in EAGLE. So, yes, I guess that is an option. Thank you for suggesting it. Before I do that, I will first need to find out which particular package, if any, this device is available in in the USA, as there are three, five, or eight physical leads that need to be routed depending on which particular package is used, according to the Linear LT3080 datasheet.

Have you tried finding it at all? :-\

Did you come right with the LT3080 footprint in the Eagle lbr? If not I have been using Eagle for over 10 years and will make one up for you if you want, for FREE :)

please dude, make one - I have been using EAGLE for about a year and I still can't bloody make a package in it, I don't have much patience for it haha.
but I'm sure if you posted it on here it would be well received with Daves uSupply project going on, we all want to make our own little LT3080 based projects

I'll make one. Which package? The TO-220?
-
I'll have to upload it tonight. Made it for the TO-220-5 and the DDPAK.
-
Deleted. Something went wrong. See posts below for updated and checked file.
-
it just says "inconsistent data in file....lt3080"
thankyou in advance for doing this though I'm sure once it's sorted out (unless it's something I'm doing wrong) it'll be great

This was done in Eagle 6.0. It will not open in 5.11!

I can try and fix the 5.11 version I made earlier, but I won't be able to get back to the office for a few days...
I use the TO-220 version in a 0-5V 2A power supply at work. I used the paralleled option with 10milliohm current-balancing resistors. Works perfectly and delivers over 2A without issues.

it's EAGLE 6.1 I have if that makes any difference, but yeah the version I have is the TO-220 through-hole
I am planning on using one of the application circuits in a design (the one called "Lab Supply") it uses 4 of them
but it goes from 0-10v 2amp just for a personal project
though I wouldn't mind perusing the schematic of the one you use if that's available!

I used the datasheet application. The use is "non critical" and worked perfectly for our application - no schematic. I used a good quality, single turn wirewound Clarostat potentiometer and followed the datasheet direction for proper grounding closely. We needed it to be stable at 100.0mV for weeks. It is - and is one of the simplest and quietest regulators with very few parts I've ever had the pleasure to use.
Were you able to download the library?
-
yes I got it working, many thanks for that you should definitely start a thread with a link to it, i'm sure everyone would love you for it.

Well, if that's all it takes to be loved around here, I'd better buy some nicer clothes. ;D

For what it's worth, I enclose here an Eagle 6.1.0 library which I cooked up over the weekend. You young players may notice the peculiar selection of parts in the library. Yep, it's the uSupply rev B board you are looking at in there. Enjoy.
