Removing copper from hole?
« on: January 11, 2016, 08:13:44 pm »
This is a part of a board I'm designing in Eagle and I am going to etch and drill myself

Is there any way to tell Eagle to remove the small copper circles in the center of the pads, where the holes are going to be drilled (see arrow for an example)?

Drilling is much easier that way because the small recess causes the drill bit to self center.

Hi fubar.gr,

There ia a ULP for doing just what you want.
At the moment I am traveling, so you have to find the right ULP yourself..... :)

Regards, Gertjan.

I don't think you need to do anything. Print it and see.

Despite what the screen shows, when I print, the holes are completely clear. The problem I have with Eagle is that the green pads come out slightly shaded/hatched rather than solid black. (If your print doesn't have clear holes... hmmm, did you maybe draw in wires rather than route signals?)

I keep meaning to try changing pads to a different color, but so far I have succeeded in forgetting this every time, and I just deal with ratty pads.

There's a checkbox named "Black" at the Eagle print settings. Check that and all colors will be printed fully black - no need to change colors on the screen....

I just made a breakout board, today. Wish I had seen this.

Changing the pads and via colors to dark red, same as default top layer, indeed works.

Clicking "black" would have been easier. :)
