[ORCAD] Tabs in Layout?
« on: August 31, 2021, 06:58:20 pm »
The schematic tool clearly allows tabs and multiple projects open, but the layout tool "looks" like it does but it doesn't seem to work the same way. Is that tabbed looking part of the interface specifically for a multi-board design or is there a way to open unrelated boards side-by-side? I ask because each windowed instance consumes a license.

AFAIK you can have only one design (PCB or symbol aka footprint) open at the same time. But there is a separate viewer tool as well you could use to just open a design. The viewer tool doesn't consume a license.

On Windows look for:
C:\Cadence\SPB_17.2\tools\bin\allegro_free_viewer.exe

There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.
