Altium: Corrupted schematic library
« on: September 01, 2014, 04:48:15 pm »
Hello fellow engineers,
one of my libraries (.SchLib) got somehow corrupted.

The symptom is that I cannot save any changes to it. When I try to save, Altium shows a progress bar on the lower left side and it never ends. If I close the library and open it the new component is not there. I have tried to copy all of the components inside to a new library and the new library is also corrupted.

I see that a temporary file (.$$$) is created and not deleted.

Looks like that some component/components have a faulty binary data in it...?

Any clues on how to fix this annoying issue?

Altium version 13.3.4

Thank you.

Altium support (or your reseller's support) are where I go for this sort of thing - normally a quick turnaround. This particular problem hasn't happened to me for ages, but I recently had an (imported from PADS) schematic'o'death, which was causing no end of troubles.

Also, of course, you do have decent backups, don't you?

The problem is solved.
There was one corrupted component in a library of 500. We copied chunks of components into a new library until it failed, and then pinpointed one corrupted component which would crash the library.

Thanks for the help.

Glad you cracked it.  :-+
Would you like to edit this thread header to include (solved) for others to find?
