Cheapest PCB supplier with ENIG and castellated pads?
« on: June 03, 2020, 10:53:10 am »
I often find myself looking to make some small modules that I would like to be able to board-on-board mount. However, at JLC castellated pads and ENIG adds about AUD$75 to a AUD$3 PCB ($23 for ENIG and $52 for castellated holes); let's call it $50 USD total. Does anyone have any tricks or know of any suppliers which can do this for cheaper? I'd be willing to give up ENIG if it makes any difference to the castellated price for some reason.

Edit:

PCBWay quotes $49 USD total
Elecrow quotes $33 USD total, not bad...

In many cases ENIG and castellations have flat rates, so ordering more boards in a batch will help to offset these added charges. Same thing applies to many other "high-tech" subprocesses during PCB manufacturing, like blind/buried vias or laser-drilled microvias.

Are you doing bottom pads with castellations or castellations only. Is ENIG really necessary?

you can see the difference. the board is low-cost, the castellated hole cost so much
