Digi-Key giving one-year licence for PADS Standard

It seems that Digi-Key/Mentor is ending PADS maker, and are offering a one-year licence of PADS Standard instead. I've received an email with a link to download the software and a code to generate an ethernet-MAC tied one-year licence.

I assume the idea is that at the end of the year people will pay for a full licence - although I'm not sure how many people who used a free tool will want to pay $5000

I've downloaded the 6GB installer but haven't installed yet... not sure I really want to.

I think ECAD players are struggling with the threat of Open Source, and subscription/cloud type business models.

Is the link on digikey ? I don’t see Pads Maker there.

Hmm, I guess you get the offer only if you were registered for PADS Maker previously.
