Edge Connectors and OrCAD
« on: March 15, 2016, 12:28:47 pm »
Working on a project right now that requires the design of some male edge FPC connectors on a flex circuit. Can someone nudge me in the right direction on how to achieve this? How should I handle the board outline, Pads, etc?

In the past with Ultiboard and Eagle I was simply able top create a footprint for the edge connector with a partial board outline, this does not seem the case with OrCAD.

Are you using Orcad layout? If yes then the way to do this is to create a template layout which has the connector and the board outline (fabrication layer). I never found out how to incorporate a board outline (fabrication) in a footprint; my work around is to have the fabrication drawing on a different layer and change it to the fabrication layer once the component has been placed.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.
