Embedding MFG information in

I'm working with OrCAD Capture CIS.

In Altium I would create very well defined libraries, such as "Resistor 0402 Yageo", so-on and so-forth. Each component in that library would be linked to the DigiKey part so I would never have to manually enter in anything. All the information is there.

However, so far I'm only seeing the option to link information to DigiKey through the "Part Linker" after it's been placed in the schematic.

Is there a way to do this in the libraries themselves, or am I forced to using generic component libraries and then attribute them to the vendor after it's in the schematic? I would love to pick the exact part I need from the library and use that. Otherwise it opens the door to errors and inconsistencies.

Is this simply the OrCAD workflow?
