EasyEDA Pro vs Std Edition.
« on: November 13, 2025, 05:02:51 pm »
Has anyone here upgraded from the Std to the Pro edition?
Every time I start a new project, it will prompt me to please use the Pro Edition, as the Std Edition support is being discontinued.

I have attempted it a couple of times.
They have changed the GUI enough to make the muscle memory acquired in the Std Edition mostly useless.
Additionally, the import feature from the Std to the Pro is clumsy and a one-way street.
Opening a project, takes longer.
There are other irritants.

Am I being a Luddite? Or has someone else upgraded and liked the change.

I made the switch, and yes it takes some getting used to it. I also believe it to be a work in progress and over time it will hopefully get better.

One thing they changed, that I don't like, is the bus structure. To create a bus one has to decide on the number of members and they need to be in a format of name_number, where number is from 0 to xxx. In the old version one could carry any named signal over a bus.

What I do now is just draw a thicker line (3 pixels) and lead wires with net names onto this wire. There is no actual connection to this "bus" and moving it is a drag, because every "connected" wire needs to be changed accordingly, but it does the job. See attached example of what I'm talking about.

For the rest it is just about the same as the standard version, apart from functions moved to other keys or menu options. After some 6 projects I have done with the pro version I'm now used to it.  :-DD
