Title: Free screen recorder for Teams tutorials on PADS
Post by: Faringdon on June 22, 2021, 04:58:33 pm
Hi,
Do you know of any safe to download, free screen recorders for use recording Teams tutorials on PADs?
Or if none free, which is the best value for money and safe to buy?
I have bandicam, but its only for 10mins recording. Also Debut, but its also similarly limited.

Thanks, i ended up using zoom, and setting up a meeting with myself, then clicking "share" and also clicking "share audio".
I play it back with VLC media, because then i can  speed up to get through the not needed bits.
Its a nuisance in VLC media to speed  though up because theres no shortcut key for it.

In VLC, use the square bracket keys:
] for 10% faster
] for slower.

Virtualdub can also do screen capture and audio capture : https://sourceforge.net/projects/vdfiltermod/

Not as friendly UI as OBS but straight out the box has potential to produce higher quality capture as you can use lossless codecs for the initial capture, like MagicYUV for example.
You can tweak the x264 settins in OBS for near lossless by entering command line parameters ex --qp 5 --tune stillimage for example but you still get a lossy mp4/mkv file

There's a capture menu, you have to set the destination file , them set capture source , codec to compress with, then select audio source, codec to compress audio with (can leave uncompressed audio but will use space) and then you can capture to your heart's desire.
