Looking for solution for adding a variable-length ext. antenna to data logger

Hi all,

We're designing a data logger for which we need to add an external WiFi antenna.
Originally, we planned to simply make a small antenna that would go out of the aluminium enclosure end plate.
However, some customers wish to be able to move the antenna e.g. up to 1 meter away from the logger - to allow it to go outside WiFi shielding areas.

For that we would need something a bit more creative - like an antenna that would be extendable.
We're thinking something that could be on a wire that could be rolled up (for compact cases) and extended when needed. Almost like in a vacuum cleaner.

Does anyone here have experience with this, seen an example of know of components that would allow this?
