Merging BOMs
« on: January 19, 2016, 04:31:07 pm »
Is there an easy and automatic way to merge multiple BOMs with overlapping part numbers so I can order multiple designs from Digi-Key or Mouser at one time? The best way I have right now is to upload my BOMs to Octopart, then send to DigiKey, but I have to then manually delete and combine the duplicates.

I want to do this so I don't have to pay shipping 5 times and the pricing brackets obviously, volume helps.

I'm sure someone has figured this out?

You couldimport the boms into a spreadsheet.

Sort it by part valu and then manually reduce the number of entries.

If you are au fait with database manipulation... get a copy of filemaker package and Bob's Your uncle.

I figured out a pretty good way, still pretty manual.

Just put all your part numbers and quantities in two columns in Excel and use the "Consolidate" command, which finds duplicates and adds them together, giving you a new list.

Hi,

I just use Excel also......that way if I have stock, or partial stock of any particular part then it's easily deducted from the final "to order" list.
