More complete bug list for altium
« on: July 02, 2023, 10:14:22 am »
Hi,
As we see in 25:00 of this

..Altium has bugs.
...Like these...
https://blog.mbedded.ninja/electronics/general/altium/altium-bugs-and-things-to-watch-out-for/#pcb-objects-going-out-side-of-the-editor-boundary

Though i believe there are more.....recently i lost  the "view configurations" panel for 6 hours......and as such, was not unable to complete a job, for which ultimately i was sacked.
Also, i find that when you select "solid connection" for vias in planes......they keep reverting to "thermal relief" connection.

Why do Altium not have a page for known bugs?

We've already heard on this forum...how all of China were using a "free version" of Altium......i dont mind betting this "free version" is full of bugs....and i shoudlnt mind betting that multiple western co's have a copy of this "free version".....maybe they booked the full cost of buying Altium to their own bank account, but then just acquired a free Chinese version for the company that they work for...

If you check the top of that page it says: Last Modified:   April 27, 2012

It's quite possible it's not up to date with current bugs.

That's not an Altium bug, it's a user not knowing how to operate it bug.

Really? Really really? I'm sure there must be more to it than not being able to figure how to see a config panel.

Because there are far too many for a single page? Or maybe because they have a proper bug reporting system:

https://bugcrunch.live.altium.com/

But note that you need to have a customer account to access it.

Mate, have you never used proper software before? There is nothing which is reasonably complex that doesn't have bugs.

Bugs have been well known by the AD creators from the inception of protel to the present day

Just update the version & skip all those bug fix, why waste time when we can earn more $$$  8)

Bottom line: don't tell lies during a job interview. Especially claiming to know stuff when you don't. Do say you are willing to follow a course / training. Using software like Altium takes going through a formal training process otherwise you'll fail miserably.
There are small lies, big lies and then there is what is on the screen of your oscilloscope.

Seems a bit dubious.

I just spent literally less than a minute using that awesome tool, google, and found this image. Google even autocompleted the problem for me.

Seems a bit dubious.

It's not at all hard to believe that he couldn't figure out how to do the job he was hired to do.
