Re Edit

Well Kicad has  BUS_PCI.kicad_mod  file  in the Connector_PCBEdge.pretty  librairy

But no where i can find a footprint out of it,   i'm a total noob and try to learn, im trying both Easy Eda Pro and Kicad,   but never able to create a board always missing some footprint and or symbol

I need both symbol and foot print, but has no time to build them, i'm willing to pay for

I need the pci 5v 3v slot / card edge "male" sometime called universal pci slot,  not the female connectors

help

my design is only a pci card interface and a pxi connector, a mere 154 pins / wires to do

i want to mimick theses cards but  turn the pxi (compact pci) conector  to the rear side  not on top,  some exist but at 357 usd quotes ??  for the 1st and 67$ usd for the red one

i want to do it, i have more knowledge on EasyEda   but they do miss this connector too

Drawing such a footprint in KiCad (and I  guess other programs too) is not much more work then creating an array of pads. Most of the work is in first obtaining the dimensions for the array, and then verifying that things are done correctly afterwards.

I have always considered the symbol and footprint editors an essential part of any EDA suite. Without them, you simply get stuck too often. It's also quite common you want to make small changes to default footprints.

You can try websites like snapeda, pcblibraries and samacsys. Those have millions of footprints, but quite often you still need to modify them in some way, which brings you almost back to drawing an array of pads in the first place.

I quite often see some kind of aversion against creating a symbol or a footprint. People are willing to spend more time and effort to avoid this, then it takes to make such parts.

hi  i was about to pm you  loll    ill need help  to verify  a few things

sadly   i had to snatch an Kicad open source pci video card project, searched a lot for pci slot designs .....
and get rid of almost 90% of the design to get what i needed, but still,   it is hard as h@##$@!

EasyEda can import Kicad files,   Kicad  give me lots of errors and don't want to give a pcb base to work with, it reject an official lscs part ---  pxi connector with foot print ??

Creating an Pci to Pxi card is around 110 wires, and need to balance in length all the data lines ... i'm learning the hard way

I'm using a 4 layers pcb,   but need to check  the maximum i can use on a pci slot, vs pcb thickness, and EasyEda wont auto route the pcb   :palm:  all by hands   :palm:

ill check a few things  when i get my 2x Ni Dmm cards  to compare,  an pci-4065 and pxi-4065 for very cheap prices, supposed to be working.

for the pci,  my biggest problem is :   is it using 5vdc or the 3.3v slot supplies  or both ??  i have to wire supplemental  V i/o jumpers to select witch one  ???

thks
