OrCAD Refdes on hierarchal pages
« on: May 04, 2021, 03:59:29 pm »
I'm trying to update a few components on a hierarchal page. However, when I name the part that part number is replicated on all occurances for that page. So I end up with four U59 parts. How do I get the part number to be automatic? I tried using the annotate feature but it ended up renaming all the components in the project.

Any advice?

Have you tried pushing occurancies into instances? (Getting rid of the "yellow" lines in the property tables).

I have not personally used ocurrances in hierarchical designs, but rather used annotation prefixes based on page numbers.

How do you do that? I see the yellow lines on the property editor

You may have to reannotate with the annotation set correctly.

I strongly suggest to read the manual in this case c.q. follow a tutorial. There are some specifics to setting up hierarchial schematics in Orcad. Simply annotating is not going to help.
