OrCAD/Allegro : Aligning components in layout
« on: September 11, 2018, 04:21:32 pm »
There seems to be a general alignment tool in Allegro but doesn't allow you to dictate how that alignment happens (Left, Right, Up, Down, etc).

Is there another way to do this? In Altium I would select a series of components and then edit all of their X or Y values to be the same and then hit distribute. Can the same workflow be done in OrCAD/Allegro?

Highlight the components - right click on the one you want to align to and hit align. Look in the options menu for direction, alignment edge, spacing etc.  I am assuming you are running a reasonably up to date version of allegro, I use 16.x at work.

for this to work, make sure you are in the 'Placement Edit' environment.  otherwise you do not have this option in your menu
