They get my vote straight off the bat for not posting a really annoying banner advertisement, that fucking JLCPCB flashing thing drives me completely nuts.   ::)

That's very interesting. Students and hobbyists really need PCB printing services for reasonable prices. PCBway is also providing good service. You'll find A to Z solutions related to PCB at PCBway. They can print multilayer PCBs and rigid-flex PCBs. Most importantly, people like us can share our works on their website. https://www.pcbway.com/project/

Yes they are a new advertiser. I haven't used them so can't personally attest to the quality. But at that price there is zero risk in giving them a go.
Obviously the cheap deal is a loss leader to get you to hooked on using their service. Many others have done the same over the years.

Looks like they haven't spent much on web development.
The their quote tool looks very similar to PCBWay's quote tool.

$1 shipping, I hope that lasts till my next order.

And JLC, and AllPCB...

I guess to be fair, there's not that much of a different way to do it.  They all have to ask the same questions essentially.

And they probably all bought the same software package from the same vendor to do it.

The company itself has been around since 1997: https://www.kinjipcb.com/company-profile/

When you upload the gerber, it will take 5-10min or so just to process it, then you'll see a thumbnail. Properly rendered the internal cutouts on the board.
At that point status changed into "Being reviewed", where it sat for 15min, until it hit approved. I'm not sure if this means they are manually reviewing gerbers?

When you add the $0 PCB to your cart it will go to $5, then when you go to checkout it drops to $0 again.
Tried to add aluminum core PCB but shipping went to $23.

So just ordered a simple test pin header board I was working on.

Things to be improved:
- faster verification
- online instant gerber view
- shipping estimate before reviewing the gerbers

I just asked for a ballpark quote of something I want to build ... 4 layers, 200 mm x 110 mm, worked out to be the same ~$57 as JLCPCB.

For some reason, Seeed is more than double that. I use Seeed as a reference because I have bought boards from them in the past and they're good.

AllPCB used to have an offering like that for a while, but of course it didn't last. They offered free DHL Express shipping for all orders and a very competitive price for 2 layer boards. It only lasted for a month or so, then they were back to the usual twenty-odd doleuros everyone else charged. So, I don't expect that to last very long.

I tried creating a new account on their website using an email address and password.

All I get is a loading circle for a second, no error and no account created.
I tried it with several browsers, even one with all add-ons disabled, but no go.
It's not the captcha, it gets accepted.

I'm not going to log in there using Google or Facebook.

Anyone else having problems creating an account there?

I had no problem creating my account with a regular email. You could also make a throwaway google account if you want to use that.
But I see the same problem you do now, so I sent them an email with the issue.

PCB status
Ordered: 2022-03-09 16:02:09
Shipped: 2022-03-13 23:00:00
ETA: 2022-03-22

DHL to Canada must be busy at the moment.

edit: they fixed the registration problem.

PCB received. Looks good.
Just a basic board.

Only semi complaint is they used lots of hard foam to fill the box. For me I'm OK with a bit of crumpled paper.

Ahem. Is it a coincidence that the batch number printed on the silk screen looks like JLCPCBs' ?

I wouldn't know, but producing the same thing under multiple brands is a proven way to capture market share, especially with a commodity.  Another example is cigarette brands.

Neither here nor there. They're probably using the same software; there's only so much choice in the rather specialized field of PCB fab.  See also the photo marks and etc. also often seen.  Now, if those numbers happen to be in the same pattern/sequence as known JLC numbers, that might be a bit on the nose!

The JLC boards I have here don't have the "-220309" date code part.
Which could be useful to know.

The first order was free and $5 for shipping.
So got a power amplifier pcb made.
The output transistors mount on the pcb through a heatsink so cant use plated holes in the area where the heatsink is.
So had 2 drill files, one plated and other none plated with filenames saying which was which.
Of course pcb's came back all plated through holes so had to drill them out.
They sent an email asking if my pcb's were ok.
I said no and gave reason why.
They said it was my fault ! not good customer relations when files clearly stated which was which.

Just out of interest on my next order I got a quote from them and it was about twice the cost of JLCPCB.
Thanks but no thanks.
