Rectangular PCB cutout not showing in Gerber's
« on: March 10, 2019, 04:52:46 am »
Hi all,

So I'm working on a front panel for a project and I want to make it using a PCB. I finished making it in Altium and in both the 3D viewer and the built-in Gerber viewer the rectangular cutout at the top left comes out fine. (Note, you can't see the text in Altium because the layer colors are the same for some reason). But when I upload my Gerber's to JLCPCB everything except the rectangular cutout shows as you can see in the pictures that I linked. I have tried a bunch of things to solve this but nothing seems to work, even adding milling guides and cutouts don't work. Do you guys know how I can fix this?

I'll link my Gerber's and all of the pictures.

Thanks  :)

EDIT: Just noticed that there is an Altium specific section, my bad for not posting this there  :palm:

I recently ordered a PCB with a cutout from JLCPCB. Mine didn't show up either in their Gerber viewer but the PCB I received was correct.

I also put a comment inside the cutout saying "CUTOUT", I think I read somewhere that it would be wise to do that just in case.

I did use kicad though, and I did the cutout using edge cut layers. I expect it should still work with Altium all the same.

Ok, thanks, worst case scenario is that I just need to make the cutout myself so I guess I'll give it a shot

Also here's a little tip since your board seems to be a front panel: you can specify the location of the customer id number they include on the pcb.

https://support.jlcpcb.com/article/28-how-to-remove-the-customer-id-on-the-pcb

I'm not sure if you can put it on the back side, but still handy in cases like this where you want it out of the way somewhere less obvious.

Looking at the artwork it seems You defined all other cutouts with a keepout or mechanical layer outline. It looks like the large rectangluar opening needs same treatment... keepout.
