Redesigning the M4 Mac Mini SSD pcb

Shortly after it came out it was noticed that the M4 MacMini's SSD was on a small pcb which raised the possibility of of upgrading it yourself.

The first upgrades involved desoldering the SSD chip and replacing it with a higher capacity one. Now complete replacement pcbs are available from a few different sources.

I found this video interesting in that they explain their reverse engineering decisions which resulted in a cheaper and more performant design:

It's beyond me why people would even consider buying a PC in which any regular and standard M.2 SSD does not fit.

Reverse engineering that thing probably cost weeks, for something that you can buy for EUR 30 in any computer shop.

i have not followed apple tech maps for a long time
but iirc
didnt apple have a boot check on all the S/N so that non-apple items will not work ?
