I wonder if there's public information about what proprietary companies think about FOSS EDA.

Cadence wrote this not so much time ago. I wonder if there's articles or opinions from company members.

There are quite a few FOSS EDA tools and they are fairly usable, unless you do <130nm node designs.
Namely, Magic, Electric VLSI, ABC, Yosys and ngspice.
