$300 CAD for this is incredibly reasonable. The problem is shipping cost would be almost that much.
Might borrow the idea of putting an LED at the top of the fume extractor, as it blocks overhead lighting.

Just got one, it was just €180 shipped in EU. It is a bit loud, but it is reasonably well built and powerful enough for my needs.
Can't go wrong with the price. I do board repairs just a couple of days a mounth. If i had to use every day i would have probably bought the hakko fa430

I hope I'm not dragging up an old thread but I've just got myself the FEK-01 fume extractor. It is a bit noisy and I think the inlet hoses are a little on the stiff side. Other than that I find it works quite well and feels quite solid. I did look for the Hakko FA430 but didn't see it for sale this side of the pond.

We got one at work too, I agree with the pervious posts. A little bit loud, but performace is ok.
I'm currently looking to dampen the whole system a little bit, maybe with some PC case muffle mats.
I'll keep you posted in case it does the trick.
