DVD BURNER CONNECTOR TYPE

Hi Folks!!!
Please see the Attached Picture, of the rear of a DVD Burner.
The Conductors Width & Pitch are the same on both sides.
The First is 6 Way and the other is 20 way.
I don't think it's SATA, maybe IDE

PS : How do the Smiley's above work, do they show up to the reader like a GIF file ??
It just explains the expression as a word, from this end.

It's laptop SATA. Left part is the data bus, right side is for power.

are you absolutely sure that longer one is 20-way ?

That's bog standard SATA. It's even stamped on the case.

It looks like standard SATA like you would find on a HDD.
It's no slimline opticaldrive SATA, as that has different keys.

But he says the bigger one is 20 way which makes no sense to me. The bigger side is normally 15.


Sometimes they can be super tight and make you think its the wrong connector.

Standard SATA data and  power connectors.
It's even printed on the white plastic ... S1 to S7  for sata data segment (s probably being short for Signal),  P1 to P15 for the 15 contact SATA power connector.

SATA power comes from power supply,  sata data goes into a sata port in motherboard using a generic sata cable.
If power supply is so ancient as to not have sata power connectors, you can use molex-sata adapter cables, this one's an example : https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/assmann-wsw-components/AK-SATA-PC-015/951597

IDE is two rows of 20 pins, at 0.1" spacing, with 1 pin sometimes missing (it's unused, has a role of key, to prevent you from inserting the ide cable the wrong way.
