MMBasic on RPI Zero W - alone or needs OS?
(1/1)
Circlotron:
Just now I read that there is a version of MMBasic for RPI Zero W. Does this run on Raspbian or similar Linux or is there a version that runs directly on the hardware like the original versions? I had Raspbian running but it is just so slow and so completely overkill. I just want something that boots in a few moments and runs MMBasic and nothing else. Is there a version of MMBasic for RPI Zero W that runs on bare metal, so to speak?

According to https://www.thebackshed.com/forum/ViewTopic.php?TID=9487 (which seems to be the main page for now) its just an executable that you run on the Pi. So it still needs an OS. Which also makes a lot of sense since otherwise quite a lof of interesting / required parts would need top be re-developed (e.g. display driver and networking).
