Thecus N4520 round 2, getting something modern to boot....
« on: April 08, 2021, 08:58:11 am »
Hi all!

Continuing the struggle, got into this darn thing. Turns out the connector is really just a serial connection, all i needed is a pin-header -> db9 connector cable. Here is the bootlog with the original FW:

So the cpu as i mentioned is intel atom, 32 bit. I thought lets start with something simple and lightweight so debian it is. But it fails right after the board switches to the boot loader (no option to boot from usb):
https://www.dropbox.com/s/0qh0uilr64vcybl/debian-i386-iso-on-ssd.txt?dl=0

Code: [Select]
Unhandled real mode interrupt!
Vector: 0x18
CS:IP = 0000:074b
SS:ESP = 0000:00007be8
EAX = 00000e0a  EBX = 00000007  ECX = 00000004  EDX = 00000000
ESI = 00000739  EDI = 00000800  EBP = 00000000  FLG = 00000246
DS  = 0000      ES =  0000      FS  = 0000      GS  = 0000
Stack:
   00007be8: 00000000 00000001 00000001 00000000
   00007bf8: 00000000 00000000 00085245 90900000
   00007c08: 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000
   00007c18: 00000000 00000000 8efaed33 7c00bcd5

Could someone help me decode the error at the end? I wasnt able to find anything useful with google.....

Thanks in advance!

/EDIT

Greetings.
I understand that you dealt with this problem for a long time, I have similar problems. Maybe you were able to move forward in a solution?
