Altera MAX V vs MAX II. Any substantial reason to ever consider the Max II?


The MAX V CPLDs seem better in almost every aspect compared to MAX II, unless you need the higher core voltage for some reason.  MAX Vs are actually less expensive.  What is the MAX II good for other keeping a current design static?

Max V is cheaper.

Max II small devices are faster.  Larger devices have the exact same typical delay.

Max V also has 40, 80, and 160 LE versions.  The 40 LE version is 90 cents!  80 LE version is $1.70.  160 LE is $3.70.

Why Max II?  Any reason?

Max V is newer and smaller die, that's why it's cheaper

Both use on-die eeprom for configuration
