Compiler software for creating JEDEC files to program GAL devices ?

I'm starting to play with my collection of GAL & PAL chips.   I'm retired, have a terminal condition, and plenty of dip sockets, and GALs & PALs.   So, I have no desire or need to  discuss CPLDs.  Right now it's GAL20V8.  Maybe in my next life I'll look at CPLDs.

I'm looking at a few different compiler options Wincupl, Galer, Palasm.   

It seems to run Palasm I have to jump through a lot of hoops to setup and run in an old DOS environment, while Galer and Wincupl run in my Windows 10 OS.

Has anyone tried both of these and found one better than the other, or found an even better alternative ?

I remember that WinCUPL was buggy as fuck-all. We used to use PALASM.
