Edgeboard lite
« on: December 16, 2019, 03:38:55 am »
Has anyone come across this:
https://aim.baidu.com/product/dbb5272f-aff2-42fc-8bbc-382a53ef2c90
from Baidu (China's main search engine).

It seems remarkably cheap for a board like this (about half the price of the Avnet Ultra96, for example).

It is intended for deep learning based image processing and comes loaded with tools and samples for that.

Presumably it could be repurposed, although its docs say this is not supported (i.e. you are on your own).

  • Is the price the same when it is in stock?
  • Do they provide documentation, including schematics for the board?
  • Do they provide Vivado board support files?
  • Do they provide English language support?

If you are comfortable taking a risk and fending for yourself, it could be a really good deal.  Ultra96 has lots of support resources for those that need it.  You can get a Pynq distribution for Ultra96, for example.  If you wanted to use Pynq on this board, you would need to roll your own.

1. I believe so - some Taobao sellers have it for slightly more, and probably do have stock.
2. No - they seem to want you to use it for NN applications, using their code. It's not a general development board as such.
3. See 2.
4. Apparently not, although it could be worth asking them.

2 and 3 are really why I posted this, to see if anyone knew otherwise on these points, or had rolled their own, etc.

I bought it and I have run CNNs on it.

But I'm having difficulties to create the Vitis platform for it.

Did you buy it?

Sorry, no, as it seemed no one else had used it for general uses rather than just NNs.
