Hacking surplus Pano Logic thin clients
« on: April 23, 2022, 08:19:58 pm »
Pano Logic was a Bay Area startup that manufactured tiny FPGA based thin clients with a Ethernet interface, a few USB ports, audio, and one or two video ports.  Ever since Pano when out of business in 2012 TONS of both new and used Pano Logic devices have appeared ebay for very little. They are still readily available today.

The technology is a bit dated, but it still very capable.  One version is based on the largest Spartan6 device Xilinx ever made and includes 128MB DDR2 Ram, gigabit Ethernet, four USB2 ports, and supports dual monitors.  That version typical goes for less that $25.

I've been playing with Panos on and off for a couple of years now and I have been having a blast.

Anyone who is interested in a cheap FPGA platforms might want to checkout the Wiki https://github.com/tomverbeure/panologic-g2/wiki.
