Hi all,

Just curious if there is any regional difference here.

I refuse to use the word. To me, it'll always be a "serializer/deserializer". I've heard a few people trying to pronounce it but was totally unintelligible. I'm all for shortening unnecessarily long words, but in this case I make an exception.

I say Sir Dez, as in the honorific and the short form of Desmond or Dennis.

Like #1 but taking the standard English laziness: "sɘrdes".  ɘ as in fir (/fɘr/), and "des" like "despicable".

Same here.

It's either a serializer or a deserializer.

What the hell is an "input serdes?"

(See the pet peeve thread.)

I think the real answer to the question is "deez nutz."

Yeah kinda same.
Anyway, it seems reasonable to pronounce the SER part as in serializer and the DES part as in deserializer. Now the exact way you pronounce those words probably depends on local factors.
