Any recommended QHD 27" monitor ?
« on: January 15, 2021, 06:20:35 am »
Update : Decided to drop 27" and get bigger eyes candy, check post #13.  :P

Looking for new 27" monitor, not bigger as space constraint, also at QHD 2560 x 1440 resolution, as 4K is way too fine/small at 27" for my aging eyes, or at least for my taste after seeing 4K@27" at friend's monitor, which is a no no.

Not a gamer and also not a digital artist that required super duper accuracy, just casual user and built in speaker quality is not a factor.

Preferably Dell as their 3 years support here is excellent, direct replacement under warranty period, no question asked, but I'm all ears to hear any other alternatives.

Any recommendation ?

I'm happy with my pair of DELL UltraSharp U2719D monitors. They were a reasonable price and I like the fact that I only need one display port on my PC as I can daisy chain them.

I'd agree that QHD is better than 4K. I quite like one portrait and one landscape too. (I'm 52 and I'm mostly writing code but dabble with Unity/Unreal game engines a bit.)

I did the exercise about a year ago and went with https://www.gigabyte.com/au/Monitor/AORUS-AD27QD#kf against the at the time expected Samsung offering due just a bit later. Great colour rendition and plenty of screen real estate for my 50+ year old eyes. The Stand is simply awesome engineering too. Mix of Video/CAD and a little Gaming for usage.

Doing it again very happy with this but the Samsung now a bit better known and reviewed might just win out  :-//

Actually U2719D is in my priority list, but I'm still considering other option. :P

Samsung monitors tend to swap model numbers depending on country and seems they have swapped models in the last year for this year so you might need to chase a new model number.

Basic specs I wanted were FLAT, 144 Hz and 8-10 Bit Colour with good accuracy so a VA panel made most sense.

Well worth a look here of some pluses and minus's https://www.rtings.com/monitor/tools/compare/samsung-chg70-vs-gigabyte-ad27qd/546/757

I'm using a https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/designer/bl2420pt.html and I'm very pleased with it.

For 27" you could consider this one: https://www.benq.com/en-us/monitor/designer/pd2700q.html

Yeah, browsing monitor models is dizzying, even at the same brand.   :scared:

Never seen HDR10 in real life, wonder if its like night & day, please be reminded, I'm no gamer, nor pro content producer which needs super duper WYSIWYG.

Ok, maybe once in a while did photo editing or casual short video editing (just simply trimming most of the times).

Interesting, let me check further on local warranty.

As other big brands like Dell, Samsung or LG, locally here they cover full 3 years and with no question asked with direct replacement if there is a factory defect, others not so big brands sometimes don't have similar scheme.

Tiny details on feature is I'm also looking at USB-C and 3.0 and with PD at least 65W, as these days it will be very convenient if I can directly plug my phone, laptop charging and etc at the monitor, rather than the table full of dangling USB and charger wires.

Ok, after days of miserable feeling, self struggling and hesitation, then I said to my self, the hell with 27", did a major restructuring on the table with bigger sized from 65cm depth to 100cm custom sized table. ::)

Bite the bullet and here we go, a 32" eyes candy  :palm:, Lenovo ThinkVision T32p-20, 4K resolution, 10 bit and with 3 input ports HDMI 2.0, DP 1.2 and USB-C Thundebolt, and also built-in USB hub capable PD up to 95 watts and 4 x USB 3.1 type A ports, and freshly calibrated using SpyderX.

Mostly just for productivity apps, office apps, browsing, once in a while photo touching/editing and video trimming jobs, thats it, no gaming, no coding and nor EDA/PCB jobs.
