The  dynabook satellite pro current battery capacity changes erratically from 79% to 19% on different days and so off power lasts between 3 hours to 20 minutes. Original Capacity in 2020 was 45600 and today it is 8800 mWh. Last week it read 51%. I have tried resetting it and am thinking a new generic battery is proper or else a new laptop. It is the inconsistent reading that confuses me. Had it been constantly at 19% day in day out then that tells me it is finished.

I'm no expert and I don't know if dynabook satellite pro uses removal battery, but this symptom is exactly what I got with some very old machines that I still use.  My situation was caused by "bad electrical contact" between battery and device.  This issue may be the same issue you got, but may be not...

Example 1
In the case of my Treo 650 (I still play video poker on it), the spring  contact(s) loosing elasticity due to age.  It was no longer able to press against the battery electrical contacts hard enough to ensure good electrical contact.  I merely taped some paper (cut pieces of business card) to the non-contact side so less space left between the battery contact side and the spring doesn't have to push that hard.  In the case of the Treo 650, when I was using it as phone almost 2 decades ago, some thinner SIM card also need a piece of business card to ensure good contact.

Example 2
In the case of my ASUS zenphone2, it was the battery connector to the phone's "mother board" no longer secured.  So electrical contact is at time good but at time not working well enough.  Sometimes it goes from 30% down to 0% (shut down) in mere seconds.  At times, it stays on 50% no matter what I do.  After trying many other ways, the one that works well for me is layers of electrical tape: multiple layers until the "right" thickness so that the phone's screw-on back frame push up nicely against the electrical tape layers which holds the plug down.   This method held for about 2 years until the battery was so worn out I had to replaced the battery.

Example 3
In another bad-contact case: This happens to my JUUL (e-cigarette) a lot -- dirty contacts.  I use alcohol with q-tip to wipe both sides (charger contact to JUUL device contact, and/or JUUL refill pod to JUUL device) and life is good again...

Hope this helps....

Cheers Rick. You might have a point. If it was consistently at low capacity yes, i would think a new one is needed. Today capacity rose to 73% and i got som 2 hours out of it. Thank you for your advice!
