COM port on PC(Win 8.1 pro) - reset
« on: August 06, 2020, 03:02:08 pm »
Occasionally, I have an error on a COM port that is resolved by rebooting the machine.

Is there a convenient way to reset/reinitialise without resorting to a reboot?

Cheers.
You can release yourself but the only way to go is down!

You can go to:
Device manager -> Ports -> Properties of the com port -> Port Settings tab -> Advanced -> Change port number
then try disable and re-enable it.

The downside is number has now changed.
If you are not using USB COM port already, try that, then it can possibly be unplugged an replugged.
Profile -> Modify profile -> Look and Layout ->  Don't show users' signatures
