Core i7-10700K 3.8 GHz LGA1200
« on: June 22, 2021, 11:20:09 pm »
Thinking about building a new desktop, Asus motherboard, Intel processor ....but why almost all new processors have a build in graphic chipset? I have Nvidia GTX 1060 graphic card I would like to use instead of the graphic chipset integrated on the Intel processor. Now, if I don't use the graphic chipset on the Intel processor, will the processor recognize that and offer more computing power when needed?

No, because it's for graphics.

Consider going AMD instead, plenty of options without the integrated GPU that you aren't planning to use.

It won't get you any additional computing resources but the entire TDP can go to CPU cores.

They include it because most corporate desktops and cheap OEM systems don't need or want a discrete GPU.

You normally have an bios option to chose, what video adapter you want to use, the integrated gpu (IGP something or the external one PEG...) or even both ...

Don't worry   simply check a manual if there is one available for the mobo you want to purchase ...

I'm no Intel fan boy  nor Amd, but   my $$$ wallet is telling me go AMD, you can have a pretty god system without going bankrupt, and i saved 25%  more than a friend who purchased an Intel kit  loll

But i hate the Intel way of doing more different socket types and 'forcing peoples' to change too often their mobo's + cpu's

My 2 cents   without starting fights

OK, thanks guys. I was always Intel man, but will have a look at AMD as well. I don't even know why I preferred Intel for past 20 years.  ;D
